Although not all countries recommend it, Norway advises being self-sufficient for 7 days in case of an emergency.

The idea comes from the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection and emergency services, who want people to be ready for things like power outages, bad weather, or supply issues. Many families don’t have a plan, which can make a crisis even worse.

In Norway, where harsh weather is common (and when I say harsh, I mean really harsh!), some places can easily get cut off from the world.

That’s why Beredt App was created - to help Norwegians organize emergency supplies, create action plans, and track important details.

But there's an interesting story behind this app. It all began when one day, a client walked in with a request none of us saw coming...

The client needs an app right now

In late October, our client came to us with an urgent request:

That was a project that needed immediate attention.

The development was already underway but had been stalled due to shifting priorities with the previous provider.

The goal was clear:

Launch a valuable solution.

And do it fast.

Let’s go then

So we got to work right away.

First, we sat down and figured out what needed to be done:

Launch deadline is close – need it ready before the holidays.

We’re on a tight schedule! The client came to us in late October, and they want the app live before the holiday season. With only a few weeks to go, we have to move fast to make it happen.

Finish missing features like sign-up and subscription.

The app was already in development but had stalled, leaving key features like registration and subscription incomplete. We need to jump in to build these essential parts, ensuring users can easily sign up and manage their subscriptions.

Make sure it runs well on both iOS and Android.

We have to make sure the app works well on both iOS and Android - no crashes, no slowdowns, just a smooth experience when people need it.

Create a smooth, easy-to-use app with a great design.

The original design feels outdated and doesn’t quite match what the client has in mind. The client wants at least Silicon Valley quality of the design – and we’ll make sure they get it

With a solid plan in place, we were ready to get to work.

So much to do, so little time!

Once the tasks were assigned, we knew the next two months would be intense. And they were.

It was a big effort for us. We had to push ourselves and go beyond what we usually do:

Before the holidays, everyone put in extra effort. Time was short, and there was a lot to do, so every hour counted. Each team member focused on their part, making sure everything was done right and on time.

More people got involved than usual. Developers, designers, testers, and managers - everyone played a role, working together like a well-oiled machine. This wasn’t just another project; it was a real team challenge where every contribution mattered.

Rocksoft’s management team often worked late to make sure everything ran smoothly. Fixes, testing, and releases - there was no leaving things for later. If something needed attention, it got done, even if it meant working extra hours.

And because of all that, we managed to accomplish our goal:

Release day

Hard work paid off – we managed to release the app on both platforms just before Christmas, providing users with the essential tools to get started.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication we put into this project.

But why did we care so much? Why did we work late evenings, cancel less important meetings to focus on the project, and push our brains before the holidays while employees in other companies were already thinking about their Christmas dinner?

Because the competition wasn’t sleeping, and we knew how crucial it was to launch the product as soon as possible.

Delivering the product isn’t the most important thing to us.

Our customer’s success is (that's why we also helped with other things, like marketing and release 😊)
